WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 28 - OCTOBER 2

Monday will be a quiz on the homework packet and Middle Ages for B-2.  A-2 has their quiz on Tuesday.  I will collecting 7-3 and 7-4. This will then be followed by the Black Death. We then be looking at the other major institution of the Middle Ages: The Catholic Church.

Wednesday and Thursday we will becoming monks and nuns and learning about the monastic life. We will be  illuminating manuscripts and listening to Gregorian chants with our vows of silence.

    

Here is a great Gregorian Chant.



Friday and Monday will find us looking at further at monks and nuns and other duties they carried other than illumination.


We will then discuss the Inquisition or "religious police" whose job it was to root out heresy and protect the Church.  This will lead into a discussion of punishment in the Middle Ages.

  



Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 21 - 25

Monday  B  classes will be in the library working on the Middle Ages project.

Tuesday will find A class working on the castle and going over the importance of castles. We will then start the video on Castles that is on the last page.

Wednesday is a half day.  Students in A class will finish the movie on Castles.  B classes will start the video on castles.

Thursday the A classes will finish the movie on Castles. We will be discussing the Fictional Character project for any questions.

Friday B class will be looking at the black death or plague. Then we will be going over a homework packet for a quiz on the following Tuesday.

We will also be conducting a item drive for soldiers abroad. Please give. It will last for the next 5 days!

    Monday and Tuesday will find us brainstorming things we know about the Middle Ages. We will then take a few notes on the Middle Ages. The theme will be a 1000 years of little change and two main factors: the manor and religion.

    Students will be getting a vocab word to draw.


    On Tuesday I will be collecting Honors class scrapbook.
    On Wednesday I will be collecting CP1 scrapbooks.

    Wednesday and Thursday We will be working on a map of the middle ages.
    We will then look at castles and castle life. The castle reinforced manor life. We will designing our own castle.we will be watching a video on castles and castle life by David Macauley if we have time.
    Students will also be getting a project on Medieval life.

    WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 8 - 11

    NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY = LABOR DAY

    Students should be working on their Scrapbook. Honors is due September 15 CP1 is due the 16th

    The scrapbook is done to give the students an idea of how history is gathered, how it is incomplete and bias.  This is how historians work and why the story changes.


    On Tuesday and Wednesday we will work on the Nacerima and Rac activity. This will be followed by a world map activity checking the students knowledge of locations around the world.

    Thursday and Friday we will find us brainstorming things we know about the Middle Ages. The Middle Ages are the baseline of the year. We will establish that for about a 1000 years society changed very little. Following the Middle Ages, we will be discussing topics in terms of revolutions.

    The students will get a homework packet due next week.
    Honors will be due on Thursday the 17th.
    CP1 will be due on Friday the 18th.

    We will be taking a few notes on the Middle Ages. The theme will be two main factors that dominated life: the manor and religion.

     Life in the late Middle Ages could be tough, but so were its sports.

    WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 1 - 3

    Welcome to the NEW SCHOOL YEAR!

    Tuesday will be getting acquainted with the Class Expectations and Syllabus. These sheets need to be filled out WITH AN EMAIL ADDRESS PLEASE! We will then do an activity to help students get to know each other.

    HOMEWORK IS TO SIGN EXPECTATION SHEET AND GIVE EMAIL ADDRESS !

    Wednesday or Thursday we will be looking at values and discussing how values relate to world history and how we see world history.
