WEEK OF DECEMBER 19 - 23

Monday A-2 and A-4 will see us working on the French Revolution. Students will betting a in class project on the French Revolution. They will be creating a google slide presentation with voice over and music. Some of the work will be homework. The students will get a homework sheet on the French Revolution. It will be found here.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 12 - 16

Tuesday B-2 will be working on the political spectrum and finding out what they are politically. Students will start the 9 types of government. See Tuesday.

Tuesday A-2 and A-4 will present the 9 types of government hand signals. Then we will  find us taking notes on Enlightenment and looking at the major thinkers of the 1600 an 1700's and how they influenced the USA.  The notes will be found here.  We will make a 9 types of government pamphlet. I will be collecting the homework packet.  Students will be getting a class progress report to be signed. for Thursday.


Wednesday B-2 will be doing the same as above. We will practice our types of governments symbols.  I will be collecting the homework packet on Government. Students will get a class progress report to be signed and brought back on Friday.





Thursday A-2 and A-4 will be looking at Absolute Monarchy and the Reign of Louis XIV. We then look at the start of the French Revolution. We will keep practicing our hand symbols. I will be collecting signed progress report.





     










Friday B-2 will be going to the computer lab and working on photo story for an overview of the French Revolution. We will be practicing our hand signals.
If we have time we will also do the following. I will be collecting signed progress report.
We will start looking at the French Monarch and the seeds of the Revolution.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 5 - 9

Monday A-2 and A-4 will be finishing up the scientist year book. Then students will be reviewing for a test on Wednesday on Protestant, Renaissance and Science Revolution that took place.

Tuesday B-2 will do the same as Monday.

Wednesday A-2 and A-4 will be taking a test on Renaissance, Science and Protestant Reformation.
After the test we will start the new unit.
Our new unit is Revolution in Government. We have talked about revolutions in religion, art and music/culture and now it is governments turn.
After the test, students will be talking about Who Should Survive This will lead us to a discussion of society, natural laws and the social contract.Students will also get a homework packet. Students will get homework packet that will be due on Tuesday 13th.

Thursday B-2 will do the same as A-2 and A-4
Students will get a Homework packet that will be due on Wednesday the 14th. 

On Friday A-2 and A-4 will be introduced to the political spectrum. They will learn what a liberal, conservative, reactionary and radical is. They will see these terms on a continuum from right to left.
The students will take a personal test and discover if they are liberal or conservative on issues.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 28 - DECEMBER 2

Monday B-2 will present their oral presentations. They will be  given an DBQ  ESSAY or Document Based Question that will  be passed in on Friday.


Tuesday A-2 and A-4 will finish their presentations on their piece of art. We will then have lesson on music and the origins of the musical revolution. We will be listening to classical music and playing name that tune. Here are a couple of examples. We will also have a reading



  

Students will be getting their DBQ's on Tuesday that will be due on Thursday.

Wednesday B-2 will be doing the same thing.

Thursday A-2 and A-4 will be handing in their DBQ's. Then we will be looking a the scientific Revolution. Students then will be working with groups on a scientific year book of all the major scientists such as Galileo, Newton and Kepler during the scientific revolution.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 21 - 23

Monday A-2 and A-4 will be going over PVLEGS. See last post for videos.They will then be given time to research their art and their artist. Organizing their speech.  If time allows we will be starting the speeches.  Students will be getting a reading on Mozart and Beethoven due on Tuesday of next week..


Tuesday B-2 will be doing the same.

Wednesday is half day and pep rally. Students will only meet in class for a few minutes.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 14 - 18

Monday B-2 will be working on the 20 pieces of art to critique.
I will be collecting the reading on Cellini
I will be assigning a homework to read about Leonardo Da  Vinci and make a piece of art from one of the schools.





Tuesday A-2 and A-4 will be going to the library to look up a piece of art for them to share with the class as part of their project.  I will also be quickly be going over the homework packet for a quiz on Thursday.  I will be assigning a drawing from one of the schools of art.



Wednesday B-2 will go over homework packet and then going to library to work on finding a piece of art to present to class.  I will be collecting homework sheet and art school drawing.






Thursday A-2 and A-4 will have a quiz on the Renaissance Packet. Then we will be going over PVLEGS and how to make a good oral presentation.










Friday B-2 will be doing what A-2 and A-4 did Thursday.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 7 - 11

CRAZY WEEK. ONLY 3 DAYS OF SCHOOL

Monday A-2 and A-4 will be review the 3 early schools of art: Classical, Medieval and Renaissance

                                    


Then we will be looking at other schools of art such as realism, romantic and abstract.

   

We will then have a quick discussion of presidential politics

We will then be looking at art and then looking at  how to critique and appreciate it. We will then get an understanding of the elements of art such as color, balance and emphasis.

     



We will then discuss the elections.

TUESDAY NO SCHOOL. VOTING FOR PRESIDENT

Wednesday B-4 will be doing the same as Monday I will also be giving students a homework sheet on Cellini. It can be found here.
.  I will be collecting the homework packet.



Thursday A-2  and A-4 will be reviewing elements of art. Then they will be starting a project on looking at 20 famous pieces of art.  I will be collecting homework packet.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 31 - NOVEMBER 4

Monday B-2 will be working on Fakebook pages on Henry VIII and Elizabeth.



Tuesday A-2  and A-4 will be having our Quiz on Protestant Reformation. Then we are going to start the Renaissance
We will have a homework packet on Renaissance due next Monday.

Wednesday B-2 will be doing what Tuesday was for A-2 and 4

Thursday A-2 and A-4 will start looking at the Revolution of Art. We will  be looking at perspective and how during the Renaissance art changes.
Here are a variety of perspective paintings and how it has changed over time.


     

We will then be looking at the 3 early schools of art: Classical, Medieval and Renaissance

WEEK OF OCTOBER 24 - 28

Monday A-2 and A-4 will be working on the Wanted Poster for Martin Luther.
We will then be looking doing a venn diagram on Protestant vs Catholic. I will be collecting Protestant Reformation Packet.

TuesdayB-2 will doing the same as Monday.



Wednesday A-2 and A-4 will have a quiz on Protestant vs Catholic. We then will be looking at Henry VIII and his 6 marriages and how that lead to the take over the Catholic Church in England to become a Protestant Church of England. This will include a look at his daughters Mary and Elizabeth Tudor.

We will then make a Fakebook Page for Henry VIII



We will then go over the homework packet for a quiz on Friday.

Thursday B-2 will be doing the same. Their quiz will be on Monday.

Friday A-2 and A-4 will be finishing up the Protestant Reformation.






Then we will have a quiz on Protestant Reformation.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 17 - 21

Monday A-2 and A-4 will be looking at Revolutions, This is the theme for the rest of the year. We will be looking at Revolutions as an important concept for the world.  Students will look at what a revolution is by using a Freyer Model. This helps us look at characteristics and examples.

We will also be getting a homework packet that will be due next Monday. The homework packet can be found here.


We will be starting our first Revolution. We will be looking at he revolution in Religion. We will be starting the Protestant Reformation. We will be taking some notes on the Reformation. The can be found here.  We will then work on a vocab word.





Tuesday B-4 will be doing the same as Monday.  Their homework packet will be due next Tuesday.

Wednesday is PSAT TESTING

Thursday A-2 and A-4 will us looking at Martin Luther and the the start of the actual Protestant Reformation. We will be reading on the life of Martin Luther and then taking a comprehension quiz on the reading.







We will then find us making an FBI most wanted poster for Martin Luther.



Friday B-2 will be doing the same.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 11 - 14

THIS IS A FOUR DAY WEEK WITH A HALF DAY.

Tuesday A-2 And A-4 will look at the Magna Carta and then review for a test on the Middle Ages on Thursday.



Wednesday B-2 will work on the Magna Carta and then review for the test on the Middle Ages on Friday.  I will collect the homework on the Crusades on Tuesday.



Thursday A-2 and A-4 will take a test on the Middle Ages. They will then take a look at Revolutions which will be our theme for the year. REVOLUTIONS!

WEEK OF OCTOBER 3 - 7

Monday B-2 we will be working on the Inquisition and torture. I WILL BE COLLECTING PROJECT ON MIDDLE AGES FOR B-2!

Tuesday A-2 Honors and Wednesday A-4 CP1 will be looking at Cathedrals and working on an activity on Cathedrals and their importance in the Middle Ages.

LAST DAY TO HAND IN PROJECTS WITHOUT LOSING POINTS IS THAT DAY FOR A-2 and A-4!!!

     













Wednesday B-2 will be working up the cathedral activity.
