We have talked about 3 major revolutions; Religion and the Reformation, art and culture in the Renaissance and beyond and finally in Science. We are now looking at the 4th major revolution which is Government and the Enlightenment. We will be looking at different types of governments and what makes them good and bad.
On Monday, the students will be introduced to the topic of government with an activity that demonstrates the concept of what government is for. They are stranded on a planet and must come up with decisions on food gathering, shelter, decision making, rules and punishment. The students will be creating a drawing that represents their vocabulary word on the Government Unit.
On Tuesday, the students will be introduced to the political spectrum. They will learn what a liberal, conservative, radical and revolutionary is. This will conclude with a self test that shows students if they are liberal or conservative.
On Wednesday, the students will be introduced to the nine types of government. They will be placed in groups and come up with a symbol or 2 that represents the type of government. We as a class will all learn these.
On Thursday and Friday, the students will be reviewing their symbols and working on a pamphlet on the nine types of government.
Homework packet is due on Friday.
