Monday will find us going over homework and the charts of artists. This chart is part of a project. I will put the directions here on Monday.
There is 3 parts to this project.
1. Critiquing art chart on 20 paintings.
2. finding a piece of art students like. They will write 2 paragraphs. One on artist the second on
the art work.
3. Oral presention on their research.
We will also be going over how to save to their google accounts.
Tuesday will find us in the library researching our art and artist.
Wednesday will find us listening to 11 famous pieces of classical music and guessing who the artist is
.
Thursday is a quiz on art and artists.
Friday will find us wrapping up the art unit and getting ready for presentations on their artists.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 24 - 28
After our look at REVOLUTION in religion, our next area for REVOLUTION is ART! The Renaissance or Rebirth.
Monday will be an introduction to art and the Renaissance. It is subjective and it must be understood for that quality. However, you can still appreciate the elements that go into art. We will be comparing medieval art and to the Renaissance art and perspective. Students will see some different art and between the two. The students will receive a sheet on the differences between classical, medieval and renaissance art.

Tuesday will find the students looking at elements of art. They will be asked to critique a few painting using the elements such as empahsis, color, proportional.... a piece they might look at is the following:
Wednesday will be looking at different schools of art such as Realism, Romantics, Cubism, Abstract, impressionism and post impressionism. Here are some examples:
Thursday and Friday will be in the computer lab looking at 20 pieces of famous art and critiquing it and finding a piece to share with the class.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 17 -21
Monday will have us reading about Martin Luther and taking a little comprehension quiz.
Tuesday will have us working on Martin Luther wanted poster. We will also create a venn diagram with differences between Catholic and Protestant Christianity.
Wednesday will be a look at England and Henry VIII and his daughters Mary and Elizabeth. The students will be assigned to create a fake facebook page for Henry VIII and Elizabeth.
Thursday will be finishing up our facebook assignment and going over the homework packet.
Friday will be a quiz on on Protestant Reformation. The students will be getting a homework packet on the Renaissance. The students will work on an introductory activity on art.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 11-14
We are entering a new unit which will be based on the theme REVOLUTION. Revolution is quick change. Revolution is the theme for the next few months. Our topics will all center around revolutions. The first revolution we will be looking at is religion. We will be looking at how Christianity broke into 2 with Catholics and Protestants.
Tuesday we will be defining Revolution with a Freyer Model. It is a good lesson thinking about what exactly a revolution is.
The students will be getting a homework packet due Friday for Honors and Monday for CP1.

Wednesday is no class due to school psats for Jr. and Soph. classes.
On Thursday we will be looking at pictures of people who are going to be the main players of the Protestant Refromation. .

WEEK OF OCTOBER 3 - 7
Monday will find us finishing up our illuminations of Hildegard or St. Francis. The gregorian chants will be missing. At the end of the period, we will move on to cathederals.
Tuesday we will be looking at the architecture of cathederals and their importance. Here are some cathederals including Washington D.C.'s in the 2nd picture.
Wednesday we will be looking at the crusades and seeing the difficulties of those battles. We will also be discussing the changes that came about because of the crusades. Here is the city being fought for.
Thursday we be reviewing for the test on the middle ages.
Friday is a test on the middle ages.
