WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 26 - 30

Monday A-2 and A-4 will be going over homework packet for  a quiz on Middle Ages for Wednesday.   I will collecting 8- and 7-4.

We then be looking at the other major institution of the Middle Ages: The Catholic Church.

We will be taking some notes. These notes can be found here.

 

Tuesday B-2 will be doing the same as Monday, but there quiz will be on Thursday.

Wednesday A-2 and A-4 will be having a quiz on Middle Ages. Then we will become monks and nuns and learn about the monastic life. We will be illuminating manuscripts and listening to Gregorian chants with our vows of silence.

Thursday B-2 will have their quiz on Middle Ages and doing what was posted on Wednesday.

FridayA-2 and A-4 will find us finishing up looking at monks and nuns and other duties they carried other than illumination.



We will then discuss the Inquisition or "religious police" whose job it was to root out heresy and protect the Church.  This will lead into a discussion of punishment in the Middle Ages.

  



Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 19 - 23

Monday B-2 will be in the library working on their Middle Ages Fictional Character project.




Tuesday A-2 and A-4 will be looking at castles. Students will be working on making and designing a castles. The second part of the period we will be looking at the David Macaulay Castles video.  I will be collecting homework packet on Middle Ages

Wednesday is a half day. B-2 will be designing castles. I will be collecting homework packet on Middle Ages 

Thursday A-2 and A-4 will be finishing the movie. I will be collecting the movie quiz that goes with it for A-4.  Then we will be looking at the black death or the plague.  Followed by a game on the plague. Students will have a handout to read for homework.







 



Friday has B-2 watching the movie on Castles.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 12 - 16

Monday A-2 and A-4 will find us brainstorming things we know about the Middle Ages. We will then take a few notes on the Middle Ages. The theme will be a 1000 years of little change and two main factors: the manor and religion.

Students will be getting a vocab word to draw.

Students will also be getting a homework packet on the Middle Ages that will be due Tuesday the 20th.

Tuesday B-2 will be doing the same. Their packet is due on Monday the 19th. 

Wednesday A-2 and A-4 will be passing in their scrapbooks. 
We will be working on a map of the middle ages.
We will then look at castles and castle life. The castle reinforced manor life. We will be designing our own castle. We will be watching a video on castles and castle life by David Macauley if we have time.
Students will also be getting a project on Medieval life.

Homework will be to choose a character you would like to research.





 Thursday B-2 will be doing the same and passing in their scrapbook. 

Friday will find A-2 and A-4 finishing the film on castles. We will then be given time to work on Middle Ages project.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 6 - 9

Tuesday B-2 will be handing in expectation sheet and showing their 3 ring binders. We will then finish activities on values including a look at different foods from different cultures. Students will get a scrapbook assignment.

Wednesday A-1 and A-4 will taking a pretest. They will then be assigned a book to be brought home for the year.  Then the students will be reading about the Nacerima and the rac that we did not get to last week.  We will finish by having students take a geography quiz on a world map to see what we remember. Students should continue to work on their scrapbook.

Wednesday students in A-1 honors can hand in summer reading work. I did give them to Friday.

Thursday is no school

Friday B-2 will be doing the same as Wednesday.
