WEEK OF DECEMBER 21-23

We are behind so we are chasing lasts weeks information.  So, B-2 and B-4 will be going over the notes on government and the French Revolution. We will be looking at King Louis XIV and the Palace of Versailles. We will be looking lastly at the differences in the 3 estates.

I will be collecting the DBQ.

Tuesday will be the same for A-2 and I will be collecting their DBQ.

Wednesday is a half day. We will be going into the Holiday Break.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 14 - 18

Monday A-2 will present the 9 types of government hand signals. Then we find us taking notes on Enlightenment and looking at the major thinkers of the 1600 an 1700's and how they influenced the USA.  The notes will be found here.  We will make a 9 types of government pamphlet. We will practice our types of governments symbols.  I will be collecting the homework packet on Government.


Tuesday B-2 and B-4 will be doing the same as above. Plus we will go over the homework packet on government so we can have a quiz on the 9 types of government symbols.
There is a homework sheet for homework.





Wednesday  A-2 will go over homework packet and finish pamphlet. Then we will be looking at Absolute Monarchy and the Reign of Louis XIV. We then look at the start of the French Revolution.



     










Thursday B-2 and B-4 will have a quiz on 9 types of government and the political spectrum. We will be looking at Louis XIV and his reign. We will talk about how ideas of new government passing from Europe to the USA back to Europe.
We will start looking at the French Monarch and the seeds of the Revolution.



Friday A-2 will have the quiz on 9 types of government and the political spectrum. We will look at the French Revolution and the 3 estates of France. Then the students will start on a newspaper of the French Revolution.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 7 - 11

NICE TO BE BACK! 3 WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK!

Our new unit is Revolution in Government. We have talked about revolutions in religion, art and music/culture and now it is governments turn.

Monday B-2 B-4 will have a test on Protestant, Art and Science Revolutions. After the test, students will be talking about Who Should Survive This will lead us to a discussion of society, natural laws and the social contract.Students will also get a homework packet. Students will get homework packet that will be due on Friday the 11th. See below

Tuesday A-2 students will work on Who Should Survive. After they will be introduced to the political spectrum. They will learn what a liberal, conservative, reactionary and radical is. They will see these terms on a continuum from right to left.
The students will take a personal test and discover if they are liberal or conservative on issues.
Students will get a Homework packet that will be due on Monday the 14th. 

Wednesday B-2 and B-4 will work on the political spectrum
Then we will go over the quiz answers and score it. We will discuss some of the questions. Students will be introduced to nine types of government. They will create hand signals to represent each type of government. Students will be given a  Homework packet that will be due next Tuesday.

Thursday A-2 will work on the nine types of government.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 4

Monday A-2 will be getting a DBQ or Document Based Question to answer in 4 paragraphs. That will be due Friday. Students then will be working with groups on a scientific year book of all the major scientists such as Galileo, Newton and Kepler during the scientific revolution.





Tuesday B-2 will be doing the same.

Wednesday A-2 will be reviewing for the test on Protestant, Art and Scientific Revolution.  They will getting a few minutes to finish up their yearbooks.
   

Thursday B-2 will be doing the same. I will be collecting the 4 paragraph DBQ on Renaissance and the Middle Ages

Friday A-2 will be a test on Protestant, Art and Scientific Revolutions. I will be collecting the DBQ's.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 23 - 25

Monday A-2 will finish their oral presentations We will then have lesson on music and the origins of the musical revolution. We will be listening to classical music and playing name that tune. Here are a couple of examples. We will also have a reading on Beethoven and Mozart that will be due on Wednesday. A copy will be here.

 

 

Tuesday B-2 and B-4 will be doing the same thing.

Wednesday is a half day and assembly.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 16 - 20

Monday A-2 will be going to the library to work on looking at art project. They will be finding their own piece of art work to research. They will be allowed also to finish the last 5 pieces of art.

Tuesday B-2 and B-4 will be doing the same down in the library.

Wednesday is a half day. We will be going over PVLEGS or how to  give a good speech. Quick review of homework packet.

Thursday A-2 will be giving their oral presentations on their piece of art work. They will also hand in their paragraphs and art charts to complete the whole project.  We will have a quick quiz on Art and Renaissance.

Friday B-2 and B-4 will doing the same as A-2

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 9 - 13

Monday A-2 will be looking at the 3 early schools of art: Classical, Medieval and Renaissance

                                    


then we will be looking at other schools of art such as realism, romantic and abstract.

   


Tuesday B-2 will be looking at art and then looking at  how to critique and appreciate it. We will then get an understanding of the elements of art such as color, balance and emphasis.

     


Then they will be starting a project on looking at 20 famous pieces of art. They will have a homework sheet on Cellini. It can be found here.  I will be collecting the homework packet.

WEDNESDAY IS VETERAN'S DAY NO SCHOOL!

Thursday A-2 will be doing what B-2 did. I will be collecting homework packet.

Friday B-2 will be looking for their own piece of art to present to the class. They will then research the artist and art for an oral presentation. I will be collecting the Cellini reading.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 2- 6

Monday B-2 will be working on Fakebook pages on Henry VIII and Elizabeth AFTER the quiz on Protestant Reformation.



Tuesday A-2  will be finishing the Fakebook page and we will be going over the homework packet on Protestant Reformation then having our Quiz on Protestant Reformation.



Wednesday A-2 will start the Renaissance. We will have a homework packet on Renaissance due next Tuesday.

We will start looking at the Revolution of Art. We will  be looking at perspective and how during the Renaissance art changes.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 26 - 30

Monday  A-3 find twill find us looking at Martin Luther. We will read about him and take a little comprehension quiz.
  or in today's world   






We will then find us making an FBI most wanted poster for Martin Luther.



Tuesday B-1 will be reviewing Martin Luther. The students will be making a Venn diagram on Protestants and Catholics.  We will review information we have covered so far for a quiz on Protestant Reformation on Thursday.
I will be collecting homework packet.

Wednesday A-2 will be reviewing Martin Luther. The students will then be creating a Venn Diagram on Protestant and Catholics. We will review information we have covered so far for a quiz on Protestant Reformation on Friday.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 19 - 23

Monday and Tuesday we will be looking at Revolutions, This is the theme for the rest of the year. We will be looking at Revolutions as an important concept for the world.  Students will look at what a revolution is by using a Freyer Model. This helps us look at characteristics and examples.

Wednesday A-2 and B-2 we will be getting a homework packet on the Protestant Reformation. The homework packet can be found here.  It will be due next Tuesday for B-2 and Wednesday for A-2.

We will be starting our first Revolution. We will be looking at he revolution in Religion. We will be starting the Protestant Reformation. We will be taking some notes on the Reformation. The can be found here.





Thursday and Friday will find us finishing the notes. We will us looking at Martin Luther and the the start of the actual Protestant Reformation. We will be reading on the life of Martin Luther and then taking a comprehension quiz on the reading.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 13-16

THIS IS A CRAZY WEEK!!!
A-2  CP1 will only meet on Thursday. They will look at the Magna Carta and then have a test on the Middle Ages.
I will collect the homework on Crusades Thursday.


B-2 HONORS will work on the Magna Carta on Tuesday and then review for the test on the Middle Ages on Friday.  I will collect the homework on the Crusades on Tuesday.

B-4 CP2 will work on the Crusades and Cathedrals on Tuesday and parts of Thursday. They will then have a test on the Middle Ages in the second half of the period on Thursday.

Monday we will be working on the Inquisition and torture with A-2

Tuesday B2 Honors and Wednesday A-1 CP1 will be looking at Cathedrals and working on an activity on Cathedrals and their importance in the Middle Ages.

LAST DAY TO HAND IN PROJECTS WITHOUT LOSING POINTS IS THAT DAY!!!

     













Thursday we will finish up the cathedral activity.
