WEEK OF DECEMBER 1- 5

NICE TO BE BACK! 3 WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK!

Our new unit is Revolution in Government. We have talked about revolutions in religion, art and music/culture and now it is governments turn.

Monday students will be introduced to the political spectrum. They will learn what a liberal, conservative, reactionary and radical is. They will see these terms on a continuum from right to left.
The students will take a personal test and discover if they are liberal or conservative on issues.

Tuesday we will go over the quiz answers and score it. We will discuss some of the questions. Students will be introduced to nine types of government. They will create hand signals to represent each type of government. Students will be given a  Homework packet that will be due next Tuesday.

Wednesday will find us going over the hand signals and practicing them.   Students will then be in groups creating a pamphlet on the nine types of government.

Thursday students will finish pamphlet on the nine types of government. They will also practice the hand signals for the 9 types of government.  Students will be introduced to the enlightenment and the ideas of where modern republics came from.

Answers: a = monarchy; b = communism; c = democracy;  d = theocracy;  e. = parliment; f = republic  g= totalitarian.

Friday we will have a quiz on the 9 types of governments. We will finish the notes on Enlightenment and the discussion of why we had to change government from a monarchy.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 24 - 26

Monday we will finish the scientist yearbook. We will have a quick review for test. I will be collecting the 4 paragraph essay/DBQ.

Tuesday is a test on Renaissance, Scientific Revolution and Protestant Reformation.

Wednesday is a half day we will only meet for about 10 minutes.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 17 - 21

Monday we will finish art presentations. Monday will have a homework sheet. They will be found here.

Tuesday we will be going over homework packet. We will be listening to classical music to see the revolution in audio art as well as visual art.
Here is some of the music style we will be listening to.








If not familiar start at 13:50.

 Wednesday we will have a quiz on art schools.

Thursday through Friday students will be looking at the scientific revolution. They will be creating an important scientist yearbook of the major players of the Scientific Revolution such as  Galileo and Newton.

Students will also be getting a DBQ or Document Based Question to work on for Homework Thursday and Friday eve.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 10 - 14

Since classes are in different times in the library, the days might be mixed up, but here is what all classes will do.

Monday we will be in library researching our artist and piece of art.

Tuesday we will have no school Veteran's Day

Wednesday we will be in library again.

Thursday we will be looking at some rules to good speaking.

Friday we will start presenting our oral presentation part to our art project.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 3 - 7

Monday will find us going over the schools of art such as Realism, Impressionism, Post Impressionism, Cubism and Abstract.  Students will have an activity where they will try to place painting in these categories.   We will also go over how to look at art. Students will get a homework reading on Cellini which will be found here on Monday.

Tuesday is no school.

Wednesday and Thursday we will be in computer lab looking at 20 art pieces and critiquing them.
Students will get a homework reading.
