WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 30 - OCTOBER 4

Monday the students will be having a guest speaker. This speaker will be Mrs. Getchell the guidance counselor.  She will be helping students mapping out their academic year.

Tuesday we are finally getting to the monastery activity where students will illuminate a manuscript about Hildegard of Bingen. Here is a glam shot of Hildegard. See last Friday's entry.
 

Wednesday we will be library working on our middle ages character.

Thursday and Friday we will be looking at the other side of Christianity the Gothic Cathedral. The students will be see the new technology and building techniques to build such beautiful churches. Students will also see the different parts of the church such as the nave and the choir.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 23 - 27

Honors and CP2: Monday will find us going over the homework packet for a quiz on Wednesday. We will also be looking at the Plague or black death.






Tuesday will find us finishing the the castle movie..

Wednesday is a quiz on the homework packet on Middle Ages

Thursday we will look at the second major institution of the middle ages: Religion. We will take some note on the Catholic Church. They will be found here.

We will start looking at the group who felt they should isolate themselves in order to follow god's word: monks and nuns.

Friday we will become monks or nuns and be listening to gregorian chants while illuminating a text about Hildegard of Belgen. Students will refer to each other as brother or sister and take a vow of silence for the period.  As students are illuminating the texts, they will be listen to Gregorian Chants.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 16 - 20

Monday will find us finishing up our vocabulary words. We will then look at castles and the importance of Castles. Students will then design their own castle.

Tuesday we will find us viewing a short movie on castles and their importance. This will help reinforce the castle concepts along with other terms we have been studying.



This is the other side of war and castles in the Middle Ages.



We will also be getting  a Middle Ages project. This will be creating a fictional person during the Middle Ages. Here are the directions.

Wednesday I will be collecting the homework packet. We will also be going to the library to research our project. It is a half day.

Thursday and Friday will also find us in the library continuing our research.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 9 - 13

 Student on Monday will finish the Nacerima activity. We will then be looking at a map and seeing what students know and remember about Geography.

Tuesday will find us brainstorming things we know about the Middle Ages. We will then take a few notes on the Middle Ages. The theme will be a 1000 years of little change and two main factors: the manor and religion.

Wednesday is Red White and Blue Day because it is September 11th. We will also be conducting a item drive for soldiers abroad. Please give. It will last for the next 3 days!

    We will be getting a homework packet that will be collected in a week. It is a double homework grade. We will be finishing the notes and looking at the manor and the  3 field system. The manor is one of the two most important factors of the Middle Ages.

    Friday will find us collecting the Scrapbooks which is a quiz grade. We will finish looking at castles.
     Life in the Middle Ages could be tough, but so were its sports.
