WEEK OF JUNE 10 - 14
Monday will find us watching the end of little Buddha. Movie quizzes will be collected and homework packet also.
Tuesday we will be looking at Gandhi and the Partition of India into India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. This has had a huge impact on world politics and the cold war. The partition has also cause some really bad blood. This bad blood still rages over Kashmir and who owns this land.

On Wednesday we will look at Confucius and his beliefs and how they affect modern China. We will look at a reading of a boy who follows filial piety and devotion to family. Here are the Notes.
Thursday we will be looking at Daoism or Taoism and how that effects modern China.
Friday we will look at Mao Zedong and the commmunist Revolution.

Monday we will look at India. We will be giving out a homework packet that can be found here.

We will be taking a few notes on Hinduism. This religion helps explain much of Modern India. Those notes can be found here.
Tuesday we will be looking at the caste system and how it effects India. This will lead us to the other big religion that started in India: Buddhism. We will look at the basic tenants of Buddhism and the life of Siddhartha. We will take a few notes here.
Wednesday we will look at a children's book about a dog and reincarnation that shows the principles of Buddhism. We will also read a quick fable about being giving and a good Buddhist.
Thursday we will make a Venn diagram about the two religions and we will start the movie Little Buddha. This is a story about finding a reincarnated soul and the who Buddha is with Keanu Reeves.
