WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 26-30

This week we be a Middle Ages Variety.

Monday after our QUIZ, we will be watching the video on Castles that we have been trying to get to. We were delayed by spending more time in class on the Middle Ages Project and a visit from Ms. Getchell our guidance counselor.

Tuesday we will be looking at crime and punishment.

Wednesday is a half day and we will be discussing the plague, its symptoms and the toll it took.

Thursday we will looking at religion of the Middle Ages, which was Catholicism. We will be taking a few notes found here. We will discussing people like Benedictine, Francis of Asissi, and The Inquisition.

Friday we will be monks or nuns and be role playing the life of a monk or nun in the scriptorium by illuminating a manuscript on Hildegard and listening to Gregorian Chants.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 19 - 23

This week once again will be a variety of activities.

Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday will find us in the library doing research on our Middle Ages Fictional Character project. Direction will be found here if my computer at school works. This project will be due in two weeks or September 30. There is a lot to the project so there will not be a ton of homework. This is a double test grade.

Thursday will be finishing up castles by looking at David McCauley's Castle Movie which does a good job showing life around the building and living in a castle. Last part of period will be going over homework packet for a quiz on Monday.


Friday will find us with a visit from the guidance counselor Ms. Getchell to discuss the students future plans and ideas and have them organize a plan of graduation.

Here is a classic song about the plague that killed 1/3 of all Europeans.


Symptons were rose or rosie circles on the body. Many people thought breathing through poseys was going to help and ashes ashes we all fall down dead. Puts a new light on children songs.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 12 - 16

This week will be a variety.

Monday will find us reflecting on 9/11. This will be done by asking the students to build monument to 9/11 and explain why they have the design they came up with.  We will also provide time for discussion.

This clip will hopefully get you in the mood for the Middle Ages and the way they thought and lived.



Tuesday will have us taking the notes on the Middle Ages that can be found here that we started on Friday. This will be followed by a look at the manor.

Wednesday will be a discussion of the manor and how it turned into a castles. The students will design a castle to get a feel for the ideas behind the designs. It was a war machine.

Thursday will find us watching an intresting film about the castle. It covers how they were built, the use  and everyday life.

Friday will find us looking at Knights, Chivalry and everday life. This students will be getting directions to a Middle Ages project. Those will be found here. Speaking of everyday life. This puts soccer in a new light from the 1500s Tudor England.




THURSDAY IS OPEN HOUSE at 6.

Friday the homework packet is due.

WEEK OF SEPT 6 - SEPT 9

Tuesday we will be looking at values and our own values with a class exercise.

Wednesday we will be looking at the danger of applying our values to other cultures, time periods and groups by looking at the Nacirema and their devotion to the Rac.

Thursday we will be looking at a world map and seeing what we know and don't know in relationship to countries and bodies of water.

Friday will be introducing the Middle Ages our first unit of study. We will brainstorm ideas we already know about this period. The students will take some notes which will be found here on Friday.

FRIDAY THE SCRAPBOOK IS DUE FOR A QUIZ GRADE.
